Erich's Story, so far....
40 years of award winning music making and concert performance
Erich’s music career began at age 7 when he got his grandfather's snare drum and sticks. His passion for music didn’t stop there...
Soon, he had piano lessons from Mom, and took up Eb Clarinet & Alto Sax, and finally, guitar in Middle School.
But the guitar would become his instrument of choice from then on.
By age 15, Erich had formed his first band and then wrote and recorded his first song at age 16.
From age 19-23, Erich played guitar for the legendary Detroit Drum powerhouse Johnny "Bee" Badanjek.
Soon, he found himself opening for the likes of Eddie Kendricks ,Mark Farner,The Black Crowes, The Romantics Mitch Ryder, Lenny Kravitz and The Cult.
By age 25, Erich became a solo artist, frontman/lead vocalist and band leader, first in Denver and then in San Diego and L.A.
He also worked as guitarist and band leader for Grammy nominated singer Earl Thomas, and Bassist/Lead Guitar for Detroit Vocal great Joey Farner, during this time.
This was a very productive period for Erich and he played many shows, clubs and festival dates opening for Ray Charles, BB King, Ike Turner, Taj Mahal, Bobby Rush, Etta James, James Cotton, and John Hammond, Jr.
In his 40s, Erich was back home in Detroit again, and he created the band, “The Flying Crowbars,” and has served as its band leader/front-man for 20 years now
A popular local act, Erich and the band have played virtually every venue in the region over the years, and most of the major festivals and events, including sharing the bill with
Savoy Brown, Patty Smith, Betty Lavette, C.J. Chenier, Thornetta Davis, and Erich's pal Larry McCray
He also
played with and recorded with Legendary vocalist Charles Buddy Smith and The Curmudgeons, a Detroit Supergroup.
Erich's latest venture is the Electro Kings Blues Band, another All-Star Detroit lineup, featuring his good pal , Detroit Blues great Chef Chris
